Coverage After Graduation
If you are graduating, are currently insured under UT SHIP and have had continuous coverage on your policy for at least four months, you are eligible to continue your medical coverage for an additional three months. Vision and dental coverage are not available for this option. The insurance company has additional rules that apply. Please read rules and instructions listed below.
To enroll, visit the enrollment page. You must enroll within 30 days of the expiration of the current policy. If you do not enroll within 30 days, your application and payment will be denied and returned to you. Continuation is for a mandatory three months, and you must pay for all three months at the time of enrollment.

Summer Coverage
International Students
Automatic Enrollment: International students (F1, F2, J1 or J2 visa) registered in summer classes or (0+) internship are automatically enrolled in UT SHIP.
No Automatic Coverage: International students (F1, F2, J1 or J2 visa) not registered for summer classes or (0+) internship do not have automatic medical coverage.
Optional Enrollment: International students (F1, F2, J1 or J2 visa) who want health insurance during the summer while not enrolled in classes or (0+) internship, enroll directly with the insurance company visit the enrollment page. You must enroll during the summer open enrollment period.
RA/TA Coverage: International RA/TA not working over the summer are emailed UT SHIP continuation options/ requirements after their department updates their job data and their .5 FTE position ends.
Domestic Students
Eligibility and enrollment: See summer eligibility requirements and voluntary enrollment links visit the enrollment page. You must enroll during the summer open enrollment period.
RA/TA Coverage: Domestic RA/TA not working over the summer are emailed UT SHIP continuation options/requirements after their department updates job data and their .5 FTE position ends.
