Domestic Students
Insurance Options for Domestic Students
Domestic students enrolled at UT Dallas may elect to have student health insurance coverage. You are considered a domestic student if you are a:
- U.S. citizen
- Lawful U.S. permanent resident
- Asylee
- Refugee
- Undocumented alien
You are eligible to purchase the UT SHIP policy if you are a part-time or full-time registered, fee-paying student at UT Dallas.
Undergraduate students must be enrolled in at least seven credit hours each semester to be eligible for the plan. Graduate voluntary students must be enrolled in at least four credit hours each semester to be eligible for the plan. You must be enrolled and attend classes through the twelfth class day (Census Day) to maintain your eligibility.
If you enroll in the UT SHIP and do not meet eligibility requirements, your insurance coverage will be terminated and you will be refunded the paid premium minus any claims. The policy dates and premium rates are preset. If you purchase a policy after the semester starts, the premium will not be prorated. To purchase the policy, visit the Get Insurance page.
